Here are some Javolinas that I photographed in my back yard...
These were just a few feet away from me in the dark, but I wasn't too worried because they were so into eating the Cheerios that I was feeding them!

This is a close up shot of a Praying Mantis face.
This shot was the best out of around 100 attempts.
Probably the least cooperative subject I ever tried to shoot...

This is another close up shot of a Praying Mantis sitting on my finger.

close up shot of a cool looking large moth sitting on my finger.

I found this very strange looking worm just outside of my shop door...
Because of it's very small size, it was very difficult to photograph.
The picture below is the worm next to my pinky finger...
As you can see he is VERY small...
I would say he is only about 1/2" long, and just a little larger then the diameter of a pencil lead.

Believe it or not this is actually a real caterpillar...
I wonder how it does it's hair like that?!?!

This was a pretty large Wolf Spider on my house.
These spiders are pretty cool critters.
I was able to hold it in my hands with out it biting, although it did seem a bit nervous of me..
This was the largest Wolf Spider I have ever seen out here!
As you can see, her body takes up 3 of my fingers just to stand on.
We kept her as a pet for a few weeks, fattened her up with crickets, and then we let her go.

Of course, I did not hold this rather large Black Widow !
She was crawling on the wall in my garage, near the light switch (nice!)

Here is a large domestic tarantula that we found on the outside wall of our house one night
This is him crawling on my remote control.
From all the research I did on the Internet, I believe he is an Oklahoma Brown (male)
The males only live a few years, and so I decided to let him go after feeding him crickets and a variety of grasshoppers for 2 weeks.
We really missed him though, so we went to a pet store and bought 2 pet tarantulas (see those photos at the bottom of this page)

These two baby rabbits fell down into in our window well, and were trapped..
As soon as they could make it on their own, we set them free

This evil looking bug is a Sun Scorpion.
Unfortunately we get a lot of these!
They are very aggressive, but fortunately non-venomous, as this one was found on my bed!!!
I have seen them as big as about 1-3/4" long by about 3/4" wide..
Horrible!

This happy little critter was crawling up the wall in our bedroom!
Why is it that only the worst bugs end up in my bedroom?!?!

This is a nocturnal "kangaroo like" field mouse.
I am not sure what species it is.
But they like to steal our horse grain and bird seed,
and then hide it in rather large piles all around my shop.
This mouse seems much more docile then the average house mouse found in the city.
I imagine they would make real good pets,
but we always let them go when we catch them...

A top and front view of one of the many toads we get in the summer time after a heavy rain.
They stay dormant underground all year until it rains.
Then they emerge from the ground to mate, and then return back under ground until the next rainy season.

No, that's not my latest wood project!
It's actually a large stick bug!
This was a very cool surprise, when I found it walking up my office screen window.

These shots were quite difficult to get!
They are close ups of a stick bug's face.
He seems to be a different (smaller) species then the stick bug in the photo above..

Here is a baby Bull Snake.
I have seen these guys get quite large around here!
This non-venomous snake was quite calm, but they can be quite aggressive.
